History: The flint stone of Department of Education was laid down by the well known academician and scientist of the time Shri. H.G. Juyal, Chairman/Secretary of Modern School Society, Rishikesh in the year 2005. The establishment of education department was a new feather added in the cap of MIT. The department is solely responsible to impart teacher training courses/programme to produce best and quality teachers with good human being. It started functioning with one unit of B.Ed. course with an intake of 100 students from the session 2005-06. From 2005-06 onwards the department kept on achieving the mile stones one after another and never looked back since then. The result of the first batch was overwhelming with 100% pass percentage. In the next year looking at the demand of the students of the state institute decided to increase the strength of the B.Ed. students and successfully added second unit of B.Ed. with 100 students of intake, total making it to two unit of B.Ed., i.e. 200 students from the session 2006-07. The Department of Education attended the landmark when it got permission from NCTE, Govt. of Uttarakhand and the H.N.B. Garhwal University, Srinagar, Garhwal to start the Master of Education (M.Ed.) course with one unit, i.e. of 25 students. The first batch of M.Ed. started from the session 2007-08. The University results for M.Ed. were recorded 100% pass percentage. The entire pass out students of B.Ed. and M.Ed. from the department of education, MIT, Dhalwala since the first batch have been engaged in teaching jobs in reputed schools of the state. Some of our passed out M.Ed. students who have completed UGC NET are presently working as Assistant Professor in the department of Education itself. Therefore the placement rate of the pass out students is more 85%. The department not only provides best quality teaching learning practices and education to the students but it also produce good human being and citizen of the country. The faculty members of the department take every minute care in shaping the personality of the students so that they can become good teachers too.
Research Labs: The department has its own research lab where the dissertation works of the M.Ed. students are completed.

Laboratory and Equipments: The department has the following laboratory fully equipped with its resources as prescribed by the NCTE, viz., Science Lab, ICT Resource Centre, Art and Craft Resource Centre, S.St Lab, Maths Lab, Language Lab, Health and Physical Education Resource Centre and Curriculum Lab.
EVENTS ORGANISED : The department keeps on organizing various events for its teacher training students from time to time round the year, Seminars, debates, workshops, educational tours, excursions, carnivals, Days celebrations, sports, cultural events, poster making, paintings, slogan writings, taking out rallies, organizing programmes with the help of local police against increase in use of drugs among the youth, women sensitization programmes road safety programme etc. The Department has successful organized NAAC sponsored National Level Seminar from 22-24 April, 2012 on the topic “Quality Assurance of Teacher Education: Initiatives and Mechanism”. The Department has organized MIT Carnival in 2018. The department time to time organizes coaching classes to its students for various competitive examinations and also how to face interviews.

ACHIEVEMENTS : The major achievement of the department is 100% pass percentage in both B.Ed. and M.Ed. course. All the students passed out from the department are well placed in the different reputed schools and Teacher Training institutions of the state. The faculty members of the department hold an onus position in bringing laurel to MIT. The efforts and hard works of the faculty of the department helped the institute MIT in getting recognized under UGC 2(f) and NAAC Accreditation with Grade B++.
